Omitting the indefinite article 1.After SER before nationality, professions, occupations, religions or political affiliations Daniela es cubana El hombre es piloto Estela es católica Roberto es demócrata But is the noun is qualified the indef. Article is used. Ex. Ella es una judía de la Argentina.

Omit before cierto, otro, cien, mil, medio, tal and after qué Cierta persona no se porta bien. Dame otro libro. Aquí tienes cien pesos. Compro dos libras y media de azucar. No te dije tal cosa. Íqué inteligencia!

The indefinite article is used when the noun is qualified Carlos es un argentino simpático. Teresa es una estudiante de Chile.

Indefinite Articles: Un Una (a, an) Unos Unas (some, a few)

Uses of the indefinite article: 1. when a noun denoting personal characteristics is used to describe a person. Ex. Eres un estudiante. 2. to express approximation with numbers. Ex. Hay unos veinte estudiantes en la clase.
