Geo MT 3 Lesson 1 Angle Pairs
Angle Pairs Adjacent Angles: 2 angles that are next to each other. Linear Pair : A linear pair form a straight line. They are also supplementary. (they add to 1800)
Angle Pairs Vertical Angles: A pair of non-adjacent angles formed by the intersection of two straight lines. Vertical angles are always congruent.
Complementary Angles Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 900.
Supplementary Angles Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 1800.
Algebra Examples The angles in this example are vertical angles so we know they are equal. Set the two angles equal to each other Subtract 3x from each side.
Here you have a pair of vertical angles And a linear pair Begin with the vertical angles Subtract 4x from both sides Add 16 to both sides Divide by 2 The sum of the angles in a linear pair =180 Substitute 11 in for x Collect like terms
