Question 4 What makes the Reverend Hale suspicious that John and Elizabeth are not good Christians?

Question 5 What is Mary’s explanation for the poppet having a needle stuck in it?

Question 6 Why does Mary feel that she cannot tell the court what she knows about Abigail?

Question 7 Who said this: Bonus if you can name the person they are talking to! Who said this: I cannot think the Devil may own a woman’s soul when she keeps it in an upright way, as I have

Question 8 Who said this: Bonus if you can name the person they are talking to! Who said this: It’s said that you hold no belief that there may even be witches in the world. Is this true?

Question 9 Who said this: Bonus if you can name the person they are talking to! Who said this: I am given sixteen warrant tonight, sir, and she is one.

Question 10 Who said this: Bonus if you can name the person they are talking to! Who said this: We will slide together into our pit; you will tell the court what you know.

Answers: Elizabeth is singing to her children, showing her to be nurturing and kind. The extra salt may prove John Proctor to be fussy or a control freak. It could also show that he knows his wife’s cooking! Elizabeth has never forgotten his affair and seems to hold it against him. They rarely attend church; their youngest is unbaptised; John stumbled on his commandments; townsfolk have gossiped.

answers Mary had been sewing the poppet in court. Mary is scared that Abigail will kill her and reveal the truth about the affair. Elizabeth – to Hale. Hale – to John. Cheever – to Hale and John. John – to Mary.
