Presentation transcript:

Unit: Rocks & Minerals New Seating Charts Tuesday SBAC Testing Starts April 1 and goes through the end of the year (almost) Assignments will be handled differently All assignments for whole week due Friday

Rocks & Minerals Rock: a solid mixture of minerals and other substances mixture: not a “pure” substance minerals: next slide other substances: all sorts of stuff, like organic material (ex: coal)

Rocks & Minerals Mineral: a type of compound (made of one or more elements) naturally occurring (not man-made) inorganic (not living or once living) solid (not liquid or gas) crystal structure (orderly arrangement of atoms) definite chemical composition (unique recipe)

Rocks & Minerals Rocks (mixtures) are made of . . . Minerals (compounds) are made of . . . Elements (atoms)
