The Circulatory System The circulatory system serves as the body’s transportation system. Every cell in your body needs oxygen and nutrients. Including the cells deep inside you. Every cell needs to get rid of its waste products. Oxygen, nutrients, and waste products are transported in blood.

The Heart Function: To pump blood through the circulatory system. Consists of four chambers. When the heart stops, you cells stop receiving the things the need to stay alive Does not make blood.

Blood Vessels Read pg 993-994 Fill in the diagram comparing and contrasting arteries, veins, and capillaries.

Waste Removal The kidneys Removes nitrogenous waste, excess salt, and water from your blood. Stores this nitrogenous waste in your bladder, creating urine (pee pee)

Waste Removal The Liver Removes toxins from your blood. Exposing your body to too many toxins can severely damage your liver.

Recap Function of the Heart? Which blood vessels are oxygen rich? Liver and kidneys, which one removes toxins, which one removes nitrogenous waste? Where does blood come from?
