Unit 1 Characters with Character Vocabulary

Description Characteristics Examples Picture characterization When analyzing text for characterization, we look at the methods a writer uses to develop the characters - their physical descriptions, what they say and do, etc. Characteristics - Physical descriptions - Actions - What a character says - What other characters or the narrator says about them Examples Picture characterization

Description Characteristics Examples Picture dialogue The dialogue between characters in a narrative or film enables the reader or viewer to connect with the characters and learn more about the plot. Characteristics - Takes place between two or more characters - Quotation marks used in narratives - Provides information about ………… characters and plot Examples Picture dialogue

Description Characteristics Examples Picture monologue In a play, a monologue provides the audience with a glimpse into a character’s thoughts and emotions as they speak only to themselves.
