AP World vs Euro

Why take AP?

APWH: Entrance into Class Two-part test at end of spring semester Multiple choice on selected reading Essay Completion of homework by first day of fall semester Test on summer reading Failure to complete the assignment or pass the tests results in removal from class.

APWH: Class Expectations Heavy reading load 6 chapters over summer break 1-2 chapters a week Heavy homework load Outlining all chapters Key Events, People, Terms (KEPTs) Charts on change, continuity, and key themes Additional projects College-level class Student responsible for work being on time Students must seek out help if it is needed Technology in the classroom

No punishment for guessing The Multiple Choice 70 Questions 4 choices No punishment for guessing 55 minutes 60/120 points

3 Essays 60/120 points You must answer all three questions. You are not graded for grammar, spelling, or punctuation.

Document Based Question (DBQ) Demonstrate understanding of 6-14 documents by using them as evidence to answer a question. Analyze effectiveness and reliability of documents by incorporating a discussion of point of view. Include an additional document that would have helped the argument and why it should be included.

Change and Continuity Analyze changes and continuities within a region. Analyze reasons for these changes or continuities.

Compare and Contrast Compare and contrast two different regions PERSIA Analyze reasons for the similarities or differences.
