Small things you can do to make big impact on Environment The 3 Rs of environmental protection- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

YOUR CONSUMPTION YOUR WASTE YOUR ENERGY CONSUMPTION YOUR OIL CONSUMPTION & POLLUTION Think before you print or photocopy! When you must print or copy, do it double- sided, Edit on screen, not on paper Reduce margin in word Use to minimize paper use Turn off unused lights Use natural lights Turn off water while brushing your teeth Dont use power strips to turn on all computers and desk equipment at once Dont use screen saver Move your refrigerator away from wall Try drinking tap water instead of bottled water, so you are not wasting all that packaging Drive Efficiently - drive a fuel efficient car, and dont drive it more than you really need to! Park your car in the shade Always make sure that your car has got pollution control certificate The 1 st R - Reduce

Repair rather than replace The 2 nd R - Reuse Use canvas or cloth bags when shopping Buy product in refillable containers e.g. washing powder, coffee, tea etc. Use rechargeable batteries and refillable print cartridge Take along lunchbox or tiffin when buying takeaways Reusing clothes Rain water harvesting Reusing things, such as Ziploc bags, tinfoil, plastic utensils, etc. Secondhand is not always second best. Reuse of egg carton Basket made of rappers Reuse of empty bottles and old glasses Reuse of old plastic buckets

The 3 rd R - Recycle Use recycled papers, Production of recycled paper uses only half the water and 3/4 of the energy than new paper If you recycle cans, the energy used and air pollution created, is 95 percent less than if the cans were produced from raw materials. Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose. Recycle Electronic items
