Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products.

Some benefits of recycling Reduces the amount of waste. Conserves natural resources such as water and minerals. Prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials. Saves energy. Helps in protecting the environment for future generations

Recycling is all about the three R’s.

Reduce Waste reduction starts at the supermarket. By making slight alterations to your shopping list you can significantly reduce the amount of waste created in and around the home.

Ways of reducing Buy only what you need. Buy products that can be reused. Buy products with little packaging. Sell or give away unwanted items. Reduce paper waste.

Reuse This is the continued use of a product in its original form. Try and use containers, plastic bags and newspapers as many times as possible.

For example, instead of throwing out your old microwave when you get a new one, you could sell it at a garage sale or trade it in.

Some Reusable Items Newspaper, cardboard and bubble wrap: Make useful packing material when moving house or to store items. Old clothes: – can be made into other textile items such as cushion covers or teapot cozies.

Packaging Such as foil and egg cartons can be donated to schools and nurseries, where they can be use in art and craft projects. Scrap paper: Can be used to make notes and sketches.

Recycle Wash, squash and recycle. Fold up old newspapers and tie them together. Make old things into new or different products.

A wide variety of different materials can be recycled, including paper, plastic, glass, metal, textiles and electronic equipment.

Different methods of waste collection 1- Drop off centers where waste materials are dropped off at a specified location.

2- Buy back centers where certain materials are exchanged for money.

3- Curbside collection where recycling vehicles are used to pick up waste material intended for recycling along residential streets.

Recycled paper Recycled paper can be made from three different types of paper: 1. Paper scrap and trimmings (mill broke ).mill broke 2. Paper that was discarded before consumer use(pre- consumer waste ).pre- consumer waste 3. Paper discarded after consumer use, such as old newspapers(post-consumer waste ).post-consumer waste
