Closing Address Tohru Eguchi (YITP) T. Eguchi

YIPQS Symposium Perspectives in Theoretical Physics First of all I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the invited speakers for coming to this meeting and giving wonderful lectures. We are also grateful to all the participants for joining the activity of YITP. Special thanks are also to Ms.Tsuruhara,Drs. Morita and Ichikawa for their help in organizing this meeting. This symposium is a commemoration of the five year anniversary of the long-term workshop project, YIPQS, at the Yukawa Institute. (total number of participants of the workshops in five years; foreign 570, domestic 1125) Recently we learned a very good news that our project has been renewed and our project fund has been incorporated in the regular budget of the Institute. The government recognizes the scientific value of our long-term workshop program. T. Eguchi

YITP aspires to be one of the main international centers of theoretical physics where physicists from different countries meet and exchange ideas, which may blossom into important developments in physics. In coming years we would like to contribute to the scientific community by providing stimulating scientific atmosphere and hospitality. Strengths of YITP is the existence of physicists covering most of the areas of theoretical physics and the opportunities for cross disciplinary activities. One of the main theme of this meeting was the unification of theoretical physics. We know well about the strong impact of AdS/CFT to nuclear and condensed matter physics. A few years ago I was struck to see a condensed matter physicist working hard to solve Einstein’s equations. YIPQS Symposium Perspectives in Theoretical Physics T. Eguchi

YIPQS Symposium Perspectives in Theoretical Physics While the current application of the AdS/CFT may or may not work, it is possible that we are entering a new era of theoretical physics where interdisciplinary ideas may play a crucial role (interaction between physics and mathematics has already been quite strong in connection with string theory during the last 10- 20 years) We hope YITP continues to play an important role in the new era of physics with the help of your support and participation. Finally, Thank again all of you for joining this wonderful conference. Have a safe trip back home! T. Eguchi
