Icebreaker

What are you currently doing to keep your patients engaged? How are you solving the problem? What methods? What are your clinical workflows like? Where are your biggest struggles?

The Problem: You want your patients to be engaged in their healthcare and prioritize their well-being, but it’s difficult to do that when you rarely see or communicate with them.

Underserved patients face unique challenges in improving their health.

The Solution: Use text messaging to communicate with patients outside of the clinic and ensure they are thinking about and prioritizing their health.

Texting as a Solution Text messaging usage is 2-4x higher in lower income, less educated populations, and has a 99% open rate

Patients who responded as “always” or “often” check their messages Texting as a Solution Patients report they read text messages in 5 minutes or less after receiving them 65% 85% Patients who reported text messaging as the most used feature on their phone 46% Patients who responded as “always” or “often” check their messages

Preventive Appointments Reduction in No-Show Rates Outcomes Data Reduction in FSBG Preventive Appointments Reduction in No-Show Rates Glucose self-monitoring triggers sent via CareMessage were effective in lowering finger stick blood glucose (FSBG) levels by 11.3%. 23% appointment scheduling rate for new patients and those missing a critical preventative screenings vs. 6% conversion leveraging traditional communication methods. Several CareMessage customers have reported lowering their no-show rates between 10%-50%.

Reduction in weight/BMI Outcomes Data Reduction in HbA1c Reduction in weight/BMI Reduction in LDL 1,166 patients were enrolled in the CareMessage’s diabetes program. Preliminary analysis showed high risk diabetics enrolled in CareMessage had a 0.5 point lower A1c compared to control. RCT of obese patients at UAB showed patients receiving messages from CareMessage lost 11 lbs over the course of the six month intervention vs. 1.6 lbs for the control group (p=0.02). A study measuring LDL for uninsured patients that completed CareMessage's high cholesterol program demonstrated a 21% decrease in LDL (vs. medication alone).
