In your own words, Successful units are… Roadmap to Success In your own words, Successful units are… Take input from attendees Chief Seattle Council Program & Training Conference

Roadmap to Success Raise your hand if… Your unit has seen a slow decline in membership over the last few years. After the last Webelos crossover, no one seems to know what to do. The kids don’t think Cub Scouts is ‘fun’ anymore. Sports seem to be taking a priority. Anything else? Chief Seattle Council Program & Training Conference

What is Journey to Excellence? Roadmap to Success What is Journey to Excellence? A framework for PLANNING A method for EVALUATING your unit A way to track PERFORMANCE Don’t let your unit fall into a slow decline or wake up one day to find the bottom fell out at the last Webelos crossover! Find a volunteer Membership coordinator to lead recruiting and membership. Utilize Council’s full-color and FREE banners, fliers, yard signs, and other advertising media to get the word out about your next event. Communicate through your schools’ PTA’s if your schools do not support direct advertising. Encourage your Scouts to wear their uniforms and pack T-shirts to school and recruit their friends. Schedule recruiting events that are open to everyone: picnics, BBQs, etc and that feature activities that will attract curious boys: water bottle rockets, gutter regatta, pinewood derby, etc. Keep in regular communication with your scout families. Don’t let boys just disappear off your radar! Reach out to local Troops to schedule events with your Webelos dens. Contact the Scoutmaster to set up required meetings with the Webelos for Arrow of Light completion. Chief Seattle Council Program & Training Conference
