Knowledge Sharing Mechanism in Social Networking for Learning Asst. Prof. Rujijan Vichivanives Kittiya Poonsilp Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Thailand {rujijan.vi, kittiya.po} @ssru.ac.th

Introduction Nowadays, learning sources are not only limited to printed matter, but also digital media or social media on the internet. “Paper or Digital Media” “Social Media” There are many platform which people can chat , send message or exchange and share knowledge anytime and anywhere. The scope of the community project users ranges from students, alumni & lecturers of Computer Science Program, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU).

Literature Review SMN [Social Media Network] is used for knowledge sharing and relationship networking in any communities. Specifically, it enhances communication performance of interactive learning, such as software project development in theory and practice.

Literature Review Web application development is mainly used to create learning media with animation techniques to display web pages for presenting information. The web technology including: - REST API : create web service with HTTP - Responsive UI : create GUI for variety platforms

Literature Review Live search results and filtering method is an algorithm for searching by keyword. Collaborative filtering methods assists users to find a require content and get rid of a content that is not relevant to their requirement. The measurement for the risk of user-generated content is one of the assessment in this study.

Objective This Research aimed to : Develop a prototype of SMN virtual web as a tool of knowledge dissemination. The basic functionality like Facebook used for knowledge sharing among people in the computer-project-community via SMN platform.

Research Methodology Data Collection Interview volunteers of SMN users to determine their requirements. The obtained information used to develop the SMN web. Tools Preparation Web Server: store & retrieve database Web Service: create & design virtual web CodeIgniter Framework: program reuse Aptana Studio: program coding GUI Jquery & Highcharts: create poll & charts MySQL Database: store & retrieve data

Research Methodology Population & Hypothesis Test Population size is 1,497 volunteers. The overall satisfaction of the members towards the web application of computer project community system is at a good level.

Research Methodology System Analysis using UML as a tool comprised of Use Case Diagram, Class Diagram Activity Diagram Collaboration Diagram

Research Methodology UML Use case Diagram

Research Methodology System Design Web Architecture: JS generation widgets (JavaScript, XML) Programming pattern: MVC (Model-View-Controller) Web Content : user-generated content GUI : design for suitable use across different platforms Searching Algorithm : keyword index & collaborative filtering method

Research Methodology GUI of the virtual web

Research Methodology Knowledge Management Cycle (KMC) The components of KMC The user created information is distributed via link, text, images & video etc.

Research Methodology Program Validity Checking Unit Test: Black box testing method Integration Test: Top–down & Regression testing method System Testing: Alfa testing method System Assesment Performing for evaluating the user satisfaction into five levels. The risk of user-generated content (5 items)

Results The Research Results has three phases: Phase I: The Web Database Development : the information is member profile, type of projects, blog posts, comments and poll. The database designed to be integrated with the user’s information.

Results The web was tested on different devices. Phase II: The Virtual Web Development : of Computer-Project-Community The web was tested on different devices. The results determined that the system was supported across all devices and working as designed.

Results Phase III: The Knowledge Sharing Mechanism: Start

Conclusions The Research Conclusions The results of this study can be implemented and is quite suitable and useful because this is presently being tried out at our department and the prospect is quite promising.

Conclusions The Research Conclusions The web GUI can be easily accessed anytime and anywhere across different mobile devices on real time and more privacy in the group communications. The benefit of this tool is versatile, efficient, user-friendly, cost-effective, privacy and simple design (like Facebook) .

Conclusions The Research Conclusions There are several advantages in explicit and tacit knowledge sharing; the SMN web serves as a central library of learning sources, and it open forum with online communications for the purpose of education and positive feedback within the class community. Moreover, the SMN building an informal relationship bridge between class members of the community, and it can be also used in developing collaborative learning method.

Thank you for your attention.
