This program allows Active Duty Service members within 180 days of separation to intern with local employers. Benefits to Businesses: Build a talent pipeline to fill potential job opportunities. Access to candidates with specialized skills holding an active security clearance. Customized training, your way. Worker’s Compensation provid- ed by the DoD. Simple process, minimal paperwork. Interns will continue receiving their normal active duty salary and benefits while in training. HIRE Vets Medallion Program Employer Recognition Program Businesses with Vets as 10% of New Hires Retention Rate of 85% for Veteran Employees 10% of Employees are Veterans Additional Criteria Varies by Employer Size: Provision of Employee Veteran Resource Group Provision of programs to Enhance Leadership Dedicated Human Resource Initiatives for Vets Pay Differential for Activated Reservists Tuition Assistance Program www.hirevets.gov The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act of 2017 (HIRE Vets Act or the Act), signed by President Trump on May 5, 2017, requires the Secretary of Labor to establish a program, by rule, that recognizes employer efforts to recruit, employ, and retain veterans. Employer-applicants meeting criteria established in the rule will receive a “HIRE Vets Medallion Award.” The purpose of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award is to recognize employers who have employed and retained veterans, including their efforts to establish employee development programs for veterans, and employers who offer veteran specific benefits to improve retention. Award recipients will have the opportunity to utilize the medallion in the marketing of their firm as a veteran friendly business when hiring, and in efforts to attract additional business. HIRE Vets Medallion Program Please note that Veteran Organizations or resource groups to assist new veteran employees with integration, including coaching and mentoring; and Provision of programs to enhance the leadership skills of veteran employees during their employment; must be established and exist on Dec 31st, 2018.
