You must choose an activity for the following sections: DofE Programme You must choose an activity for the following sections: Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community Expedition: to inspire initiative and adventure as part of a team

Bronze Timescales Volunteering Physical Skills Expedition 3 months Plan, train for and complete a 2 day, 1 night expedition All participants must undertake a further 3 months in the Volunteering, Physical or Skills section.

Sectional Guidelines All activities must be undertaken outside of the normal school curriculum. Lunch and after school clubs and activities are fine. The activity should be done for approximately an hour a week. Time away during holidays etc is acceptable provided it is only a short time and does not impact on the overall commitment and progression. Activities could be something you already do or something completely new. Sections do not have to completed all at the same time. Participants need to have an assessor for each section of the award who has expertise or knowledge in the activity, but cannot be a relative.

Common Section Mistakes In each section activities are grouped under different headings (see welcome pack). In the Skills section games and sports does not refer to the physical taking part in sport, but officiating, learning a coaching qualification or sports appreciation Volunteering must not be done for a business but can be done for a charity or not-for-profit organisation Coaching teaching/leadership can be volunteering or a skills activity but volunteering is about helping, skill is about learning skills/rules or gaining a qualification

Recording and Monitoring your DofE Programme

Welcome Packs Participants will all have a welcome pack with guidance on all the sections, and a guidance card for their assessor.

eDofE eDofE is the online account participants use to record all their DofE Award. Participants will receive a welcome to DofE email and will need to log on and complete their basic details and change their passwords. They can then go onto add details about each activity they are undertaking for the different sections, once they have completed the overall timescales. The first log in must be completed on a computer after this participants can use the mobile site: m.edofe.org

The Assessors Role and Completing your DofE

This is the minimum evidence required to complete a section Assessors Reports The role of your assessor for each section is to verify that you have completed the activity for the required timescale and to provide comments on your achievements, goals and skills. This needs to be a written report. This is the minimum evidence required to complete a section This report can be completed online using the assessors portal https://edofe.org/Assessor or written on the relevant page from the welcome pack and uploaded as evidence onto your eDofE account. ( see welcome pack for full details )

Obtaining Assessors Reports A section in itself You should always ask prior to starting an activity if they would mind being your assessor. Discuss your goals and explain what is involved. Obtain their contact details and full name for eDofE You will need to ask your assessor to write you a report at the end of the section …. possibly remind them…. and thank them. Not all assessors will know about DofE …. Use the Guidance Cards in your welcome pack. Try and obtain the report as soon as you can after completing the section

Other Evidence It may be useful to keep other evidence such as a record of dates you did the activity, photos and certificates etc. These can all be uploaded on your eDofE account as you go along or at the end before you submit your section for approval. If you do not see your assessor each week you will need to agree the evidence or updates you are going to provide them in order that they can verify in their report the activity you completed and the skills your learnt.

When uploading a paper assessors report you will need to ‘mark this as the assessors report’, then submit your section for approval. If using the online system your assessor will need your eDofE ID number and the level/section. Their comments automatically go to the DofE Leader for approval before being added to your account. Try and get in the habit of logging into your eDofE account regularly – keep it up to date – know when you reach the end of each section – this will really help you complete your Award!
