Organisational Culture ‘The values, attitudes and beliefs of the people working in an organisation that control the way they interact with each other and with external stakeholders.’ Influences on organisational culture: Mission and vision statements Senior staff The organisation’s ethical code of conduct Attitudes to CSR How management treat subordinates

Types of Organisational Culture Power Culture - Autocratic leadership -Power given to a few 2) Role Culture -Each member of staff has a clearly defined role and job title 3) Task Culture -Based on cooperation and teamwork to solve a particular task. Associated with matrix structure.

Types of Organisational Culture 4) Person Culture -Individuals are given the freedom to express themselves, the most creative type of culture. - Less emphasis on teamwork but more on working as an individual to complete a task. - Less structured working environment

Types of Organisational Culture 5) Entrepreneurial Culture - Success is rewarded and failure is not criticised - Risk taking is encouraged - Found in flexible organisational structures - Motivation is high among people who enjoy a challenge and being innovative
