Practical advice to help our children to adopt a balanced diet Parents should: They tend to have regular family meals - healthy eating habits start at home Avoid using food as a punishment or reward Encourage children to eat when hungry and stop when pleased by They focus their efforts on small, gradual changes in diet, to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime

Encourage children to maintain a healthy diet and avoid restrictive diets They allow children to enjoy their favorite foods with a high fat / sugar occasionally and in limited quantities Encourage children to participate in the preparation of food and shopping Closing the TV dinner time - avoid snacking while watching television

Calendar diet children at home and at school The rule should be five protein meals that are divided as follows: 1 x red meat, 2x chicken, fish 2 times, 2 times pulses.  Accompanying the good proteins to be pasta with whole wheat flour and oily food like meat with beans, chicken with okra or fish soup with vegetables and rice, chicken with potatoes, meat with pasta etc. The pulses are accompanied with olives.

At dinner the children have the opportunity to eat eggs, yogurt with honey, cheese salads. It is advisable to avoid the toast with milk for the evening children. This can be selected one or two times a week. Milk, of course, can drink in the afternoon or before sleeping. Sweet children should get used to one or at most two times a week and it is homemade.

Tips for healthy eating for children Base meals in complex carbohydrates such as potatoes, rice, pasta or wholemeal bread Eat regular meals during the day (such as breakfast, lunch, dinner) with snacks (such as fruit, cereal bar, wholegrain bun, crackers, etc.) Include a protein source in the main meals (such as meat, fish, eggs, legumes, milk, yogurt)

Include iron-rich foods in the diet such as red meat (for example beef), eggs, fortified cereals, legumes (including vitamin C, for example orange juice after eating) Include daily foods rich in calcium such as milk, cheese, yogurt, rice pudding Put color in your diet - consume daily fruits and vegetables in a variety of colors

In addition to a healthy diet is important for children to have regular physical activity. It should, school and home, to encourage them to do some form of daily physical activity such as walking, cycling, swimming or other sport, and play. And especially don’t forget the great giving a good example!
