Location This is the first thing that one needs to look at. Where is the site located? How is the site approached? What is the name of the street, the road etc on which the site is located? How far away is the major junction? What are the major landmarks near the site?

Location

Neighborhood context Zoning of the neighborhood is important.eg. Residential, commercial, institutional etc. Features include architectural patterns, street lighting, and condition of existing buildings. This would also include the immediate surroundings of the site. Height of buildings, building type etc.

Site Features All the natural and man made features in the site. Drainage problems as well as existing natural features of trees, ground cover, ground texture, and soil conditions etc. Features located on the site such as buildings, walls, fences, patios, plazas, bus stop shelters etc. The size and location of such features should be directly measured.

Orientation – North Direction Sun path -Sun Movement Temperature Table & Rainfall Table Wind direction and Speed Topography- Site Section Views from the site and towards the site- pictures of site surroundings with arrows

Utilities Information in this includes the location of all utilities like telephone, electricity, water, drainage etc and their locations around or on the site itself.

Human and cultural This information includes activities among people near the site and the relationship of site to these activities.

Size and zoning Zoning classifications, set-backs, height restrictions, allowable site coverage, uses, and parking requirements are obtained by obtaining zoning classifications from a zoning map, which can be located from the city planning department.
