Dressing for Success in FBLA AN INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION ON APPROPRIATE BUSINESS ATTIRE FOR FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA EVENTS AND CONFERENCES

WHY DO WE HAVE A DRESS CODE? The dress code is intended to give FBLA members guidelines on what is and isn’t universally appropriate business attire. As FBLA members, we must project the image of confident, professional future business leaders. Members of FBLA are expected to “uphold the excellent image and behavior” of this organization, and this includes dressing appropriately. Appropriate business attire is required for all general sessions, awards sessions, competitive events, and workshops for all conference attendees.

APPROPRIATE BUSINESS ATTIRE FOR MEN Business suit, dress shirt (tucked-in), tie, belt, AND dress socks Sport coat, dress slacks, dress shirt, (button-down, long or short sleeve, tucked-in), belt, tie, AND dress socks Dress slacks and shirt (tucked-in), sweater, tie, belt, AND dress socks Dress slacks, banded collar shirt (tucked-in), belt, AND sport coat AND dress socks ALL ITEMS LISTED TOGETHER MUST COORDINATE!!

RECOMMENDED MEN’S ATTIRE COORDINATING SHIRT AND TIE A tie is always required!* *Unless wearing a banded-collar shirt.

RECOMMENDED MEN’S ATTIRE Contemporary-style sweater with shirt and tie Cable (or ribbed) sweater with shirt and tie Dress slacks Doc Martens are okay if they are the original style- flat oxfords! Dress oxfords Dress loafers

APPROPRIATE BUSINESS ATTIRE FOR WOMEN Business suit (slacks), blouse AND nylons, tights, or trouser socks Business suit (skirt), blouse AND nylons or tights Business dress with sleeves AND nylons or tights Business dress WITH blazer or sweater AND nylons or tights; Slacks with blouse (tucked-in) AND sweater AND nylons, tights, or trouser socks; blouse CAN be untucked but NOT to be seen below bottom of sweater Note: A blouse can be untucked with a jacket, but it cannot hang below the jacket.
