Recording Your Script and Creating Your Podcast !!You are not finished until you have completed all steps on all of the slides up to and including Slide #13!!

Recording Your Script Find a quiet place to record. Open up your phone’s recording app. When recording, remember: Speak very clearly Enunciate Do not rush Read your entire script, word for word

GRAB A LAPTOP Open Audacity through programs by clicking on the Windows symbol in the bottom left hand corner of the LAPTOP screen. DO NOT OPEN AUDACITY THROUGH THE DESKTOP!!!

Open up your recording on your cell phone and hold your phone right next to the speaker on the laptop.

Creating Your Podcast Hit “RECORD” on Audacity. (Red Button) Hit “PLAY” on your phone. Your audio recording will appear as a waveform in the work area. Phone volume should be up all the way! When completed, you must press the “STOP” button in Audacity. “Record” Press First “Stop” Press When Done

Creating Your Podcast If you have recorded correctly, then your work area should look something like this:

Creating Your Podcast Save your podcast RIGHT NOW before doing anything else to it. To save: Save it as an Audacity project by going to the FILE dropdown menu and choosing Save Project As… Give it a name. Make sure it saves as an “aup” file. Drop it into your personal student folder.

Creating Your Podcast Go back and listen to your podcast in Audacity. **VERY IMPORTANT: When opening your podcast you must access it by opening the Audacity program first, then clicking on FILE and going to your student folder. IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU GO TO YOUR FOLDER WITHOUT GOING THROUGH AUDACITY!!!

Editing Your Podcast Check out the directions below to delete any unwanted noises and mistakes or to add effects.

Editing Your Podcast Additional Things You Can Do…

Editing Your Podcast Adding Effects and Music…

Exporting Your File As An MP3 File Listen to your podcast to make sure it sounds exactly the way you want it to sound. YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT AFTER THIS NEXT STEP!! To turn your file into an actual podcast, you will need to make it into an MP3. Here’s how you do it: Go to the FILE Dropdown Menu and choose EXPORT. In the box that says “File Name:” rename it using LAST NAME then FIRST NAME Example: Smith John In the box that says “Save as type:” you will scroll down to “MP3 Files” and select this. !!!!!!!DO NOT hit “Save” yet!! Go up to “Save in:” Scroll down to “Computer”, click on it and find the area where you normally save things at school. NOW SAVE IT.

Moving Your MP3 To Mr. Felton’s Drop Box Follow the directions contained below: From the Microsoft “Start” menu (lower left hand corner of the screen) go to “Computer” and open up your MP3 file. In a second window, open up “Computer” again. In this window, open up “TOH_SHARES”. Make sure it says the “V” drive, as well. Search or scroll down to “Felton”. Drag your MP3 to the “STU_DROP_FOLDER”.
