A Changing Environment New leadership New payment models EMR incentives Like every other industry, healthcare education faces a changing environment. There are changes in government, healthcare reform, incentives for meaningful use of EHRs, progress related to patient safety and quality, and new payment models such as Accountable Care organizations. As we strive to make healthcare more efficient and effective, we need models of education and assessment that are more efficient and effective as well, models that are based on performance data, that hold physicians accountable for their own performance and improvement.

We need to Connect the Dots! And technology standards are essential to connect the dots in healthcare education and competence assessment.
