The POINT Command and The DIVIDE, MEASURE Commands Sacramento City College Engineering Design Technology The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands The POINT Command The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Drawing Points CIRCLE command – draws circles LINE command – draws lines POINT command – draws points Select POINT command by: Draw Toolbar - Point button Draw pull-down menu – Point suboption PO or POINT at the Command: prompt The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Drawing Points Command: PO or POINT Point: (type point coordinates or pick with pointing device) POINTS can be Moved Copied Rotated Just like lines, polygons or other objects. The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

Controlling Appearance of POINT Objects - The PDMODE System Variable The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

PDMODE System Variable The PDMODE system variable controls the appearance of POINTs. 20 different POINT appearance options exist. Value of PDMODE range only from 0 to 4. 32 to 36 64 to 68 96 to 100 The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

PDMODE System Variable The PDMODE system variable controls the appearance of POINTs. 0 = point. 1 = nothing drawn. 2 = cross is drawn. 3 = x is drawn. 4 = | is drawn. 32 = circle 64 = square The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands PDMODE = 2 The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands PDMODE = 3 The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands PDMODE = 4 The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Setting Point Style To change the appearance of POINTs, change the value of the PDMODE system variable. Two ways to change PDMODE value. 1. Type PDMODE at the Command: prompt Enter the new value of PDMODE system variable. 2. Type DDPTYPE at the Command: prompt. Dialog box appears allowing you to change value of PDMODE. The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Setting Point Style A combination of square and circle can be produced. Circle Square Both 32 + 0 = 32 64 + 0 = 64 96+ 0 =96 32 + 1 = 33 64 + 1 = 65 96+ 1 =97 32 + 2 = 34 64 + 2 = 66 96+ 2 =98 32 + 3 = 35 64 + 3 = 67 96+ 3 =99 32 + 4 = 36 64 + 4 = 68 96+ 4 =100 The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Setting Point Style DDPTYPE dialog box: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 32 = circle 32, 33, 34, 35, 36 64 = square 64, 65, 66, 67, 68 96 = circle + square 96, 97, 98, 99, 100 No other values are valid for PDMODE except these values The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands The DIVIDE Command The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Dividing an Object The DIVIDE command “divides objects” into an equal number of segments, by placing POINTs or BLOCKs along the object. It places point objects or blocks at the locations where the breaks would occur. The DIVIDE command does NOT physically break an object into multiple parts. The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Dividing an Object Command: DIVIDE or DIV Selecting DIVIDE from the Point cascading menu of the Draw pull-down menu The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Dividing an Object Command: DIV or DIVIDE Select object to divide: (pick the object) <Number of segments>/Block: (enter the number of divisions and press [Enter] The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands Dividing an Object The Block option of the DIVIDE command allows you to place a block at each division point. A Block is a previously drawn symbol or shape. We will learn blocks later in the course. The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands The MEASURE Command The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

Measuring Objects at Specific Points The MEASURE command “measures objects” by placing POINTs or BLOCKs along the object, at a user-specified distance apart. The MEASURE command does NOT physically break an object into multiple parts. The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

Measuring Objects at Specific Points Select by: Picking Measure from the Point cascading submenu of the Draw pull-down menu Typing ME or MEASURE at the Command: prompt The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

Measuring Objects at Specific Points Command: ME or MEASURE Select object to measure: (pick an object) <Segment length>/Block: The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands

The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands The Block Option The Block option of the MEASURE and DIVIDE commands allows you to place a block at each division point. The POINT, DIVIDE, and MEASURE Commands
