Language access PLAN Community Needs Establishes a strategy for ensuring meaningful access by LEP individuals as required by: Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VI Executive Order 13166 (2000) “Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency” CLAS Standards, HHS, Office of Minority Health (2013) ACA, Section 1557 Joint Commission CCBHC (Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic) Required as part of the application process for Federal Grants CCBHC (Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) are designed to provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder services, particularly to vulnerable individuals with the most complex needs )

Language access PLAN Alignment: Goal: Integral Care provides access to timely, quality language assistance services to individuals with Limited English Proficiency. Alignment: Strategic Plan Goal# 2: Improved health outcomes are achieved through implementation of high quality services and continuous innovation. Objective 2.1: Increase access to services. Objective 2.2: Make available evidence-based services and promising practices that meet or exceed industry standards. Other Agency Efforts: Cultural Competency CLAS CCBHC

Overview Aligns with HHS Language Access Policy and Implementation Recommendations (2013) Needs and Capacity Assessment involves agency and community. Comprehensive, detailed work plan to be finalized by 10/21/2016 Aligns with other agency efforts: CLAS, Cultural Competency, Plain Language, TIC HHS plan – very detailed and covers all aspects at an organizational level (vs. unit level) Driven by the needs/capacity assessment with the focus coming from the people we serve and the community.

Current Projects: Interpreter Usage: Spanish (75%), Vietnamese (9.8%), Arabic (7.0%), Nepali (2.5%), Mandarin (1.5%), and Burmese (1.4%) 3 Relief ASL Interpreters in addition to multiple contracts Addition of video relay services for ASL and spoken languages “Direct Connect” for hotline (November 2016) Certified Medical Interpreters
