Choir Vocabulary Choir Notes Week 4

Beat (meter) 3 = Three beats per measure 4 = Quarter note gets the count

Rhythm Whole Rest = 4 beats Dotted Half Note = 3 beats Half Rest = 2 beats Single Eighth Note = ½ beat

Expression Major – Usually sounds “happy” or “bright” to western ears Minor – Usually sounds “sad” or “dark” to western ears

Dynamics PP= Pianissimo (very quiet) FF = Fortissimo (very loud)

Form Bar Line – Divides measures Measure – The space between two bar lines. Final Double Bar Line – Shows that the song has ended.
