Dissection of the fetal pig Anatomy to Remember Turner College & Career High School  2016

Digestive System Food passes through the esophagus to the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. The first part of the small intestine is the duodenum. Secretions released from the pancreas and gall bladder empty into the duodenum. The liver is lifted to show the gall bladder.

Digestive System The cecum is a blind pouch where the small intestine joins the large intestine. It houses bacteria used to digest plant materials such as cellulose. The cecum is large in herbivores but much of it has been lost during evolution in humans. The appendix in humans is the evolutionary remains of a large ancestral cecum.

Circulatory System The first branch of the aorta is the brachiocephalic artery. The second branch is the left subclavian artery which goes to the left front leg. The right subclavian carries blood to the right front leg and caroitids carry blood to the head.

Urogenital System The ureter carries the urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder.

Urogenital System FEMALES The urethra (carries urine) merges with the vagina to form a common duct called the urogenital sinus.
