Background The Local Alcohol Profiles for England provide information for local government, health organisations, commissioners and other agencies to monitor the impact of alcohol on local communities, and to monitor the services and initiatives that have been put in place to prevent and reduce the harmful impact of alcohol. The indicators are split into 7 domains; Mortality Alcohol Related Conditions Hospital Admissions Other Impacts Hospital Admissions by Age-Group Treatment Consumption and Availability They are updated quarterly in February, May, August and November (provided new data are available). A list of indicators updated, for the most recent and previous releases can be found in the Local Alcohol Profiles for England collection within www.gov.uk. Local Alcohol Profiles for England

Survey datasets we use for alcohol Health Survey for England Annual household survey, 8k adults surveyed each year Questions on usual drinking and drinking on the heaviest drinking day in the previous week Can combine alcohol consumption data with information about other risk factors, health conditions and a wide range of demographic information ONS Opinion survey Annual GB survey, 8k adults surveyed Asks questions about drinking on the heaviest drinking day in the previous week Long running time series is available Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey Runs every 7 years (last survey was 2014) 7500 adults in England surveyed Questions include the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and enable estimates to be produced of alcohol dependence.
