Let’s look at some verses that talk about “serving.”

Christ Jesus:…being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, Phil 2:5-7

I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master…now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13:16-17

The point is, I’d like to make some simple suggestions …in simple terms…of how each of us can serve and contribute our part to the Lord and His family. You can serve by… Being here at worship…and worship. Be here for class…prepared…participate. Do all you can do to help in the classes and in public worship.

Roland used to say that the things we do in public worship are probably the least important things we do to serve… In front of others, live what you believe By your actions assure us all that you are part of this family & can be counted on to pull your own weight. Make it a point to get with others outside of “here,” for their sake and for your own sake. Note who needs your prayers & pray for them, several times. Make a conscious effort to “give” more than you “get.” Ask not what a congregation can do for you, but what you can do for a congregation. In short: share yourself with others: that’s really what “service” is—it can’t be done any other way.
