Presentation transcript:

8-6 Slope-Intercept Form slope-intercept form - equation of the form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is the y-intercept. slope y-intercept over 1 y = mx + b ex: y = 2x + 3 up 2 slope is 2 y-intercept is at (0,3)

Example State the slope and y-intercept. y = mx + b 1. y = 2x - 4 slope = 2 y-int: -4 2. y = -7x + 9 slope = -7 y-int: 9 3. y = x slope = 1 y-int: 0

Example Graph each equation using the slope and y-intercept. Start at the y-intercept. Plot the point! Then plot the next point using the slope. Try again!
