Grad Affairs Report Feb. 2008 Item 1: PhD Qualifying Procedures Thus far we have received written comments on the committee’s proposals to change our qualifying process structure from only three faculty. Some comments re clarification of proposed procedures for competency exams. Faculty Meeting in March to be dedicated to this topic - please get comments to us. Item 2: Decision re Graduate Admissions and Assistantship Offers will happen soon: University is imposing a March 1st application deadline for Fall admissions. We will decide regarding offers based on completed applications at that time. Item 3: 130 hr BS/MS program for our own students. Document in final preparation. Ideas are similar to the agreement with Angelo State that was accepted in the Fall. Item 4: Graduate Program Review Committee to meet with Faculty and Grad Students Item 5: Statement regarding ‘satisfactory progress’ and ‘good academic standing’. Review of student progress; student reporting / record update and TA performance evaluations each semester; plus annual research progress evaluation from Advisor. Item 6: Plan meeting with graduate students to discuss several of these items
