3. Introduction to the PhD BA program
The Ph.D. in Business Administration curriculum is designed to help doctoral students develop advanced research skills. Students should demonstrate and apply these skills toward the creation of new knowledge in a formal Ph.D. Dissertation.

These three tracks are designed to encourage students to plan their progress in advance. Students should declare their track when they start the program. Depending on their dissertation progress, students can finish earlier but it has to be before DBA712.

10. Qualifying Exam in RES620
PhD students must show comprehensive mastery of their field of study and appropriate skills to conduct independent research design.
Students are examined on their understanding of theory, research methods, and statistical concepts related to their research area of study.
The purpose of this exam is to evaluate readiness to move to dissertation phase.
The qualifying exam includes: (a) written portion; (b) oral portion.
RES620 is the bridge between coursework and dissertation coursework.

11. What is DPS?
The Doctoral Positioning System (DPS) is a web-based technology used for the administration, documentation, tracking, and evaluation of progress toward completing all the tasks and milestones required to attain the PhD degree at Trident.
The DPS should facilitate a faster completion of the program and easier quality control.

The 800 course is a session-less course personalized for each PhD student as soon as you are registered in the program.
It is valued at zero credit hour.
It provides a single place to submit, track, and gain approval for completed dissertation tasks.
PhD programs have 20 dissertation tasks.

Required to create ePortfolio forms (AP, Progress Report, Committee Formation, IRB Application Form) that must be uploaded into the appropriate 700 or 800 dropbox
eP can be used to share documents, forms, and presentations for career and job transition

24. Required actions by the chair
In RES620:
Participate in the exam as examinee and become familiar with student’s dissertation topic
In DBA699:
Work with student to develop a prospectus (or pre-proposal)
Change required readings as needed
Grade assignments and provide feedback every module
In 700+ and 800:
Expect submissions/communications every two weeks
Provide feedback within 3 to 5 days
Use 800 for version control
Grade progress report in the 700 course at the end of the session with P=pass or NP=no pass.
