Do you feel you are a better official this season (the boys 2013 season) compared to last season (the 2013 girls season)? Yes-88 No-12

How Many Clinics Did You Attend this Summer? 1 Clinic-18 2 Clinics-10 3 Clinics-16 4 Clinics-17 5 Clinics-17 6 Clinics-22

Do you feel the clinics have made you a better official? Yes-94 No-6

DO YOU THINK THE PLAYOFF SYSTEM IS FAIR? Yes-69, No-21, Unsure-10 The commitment to drive and attend all the clinics and scrimmages required to make a Class 1 or 2 takes a lot of time. It tough to justify all that time and travel for a $70 playoff game or two. No. Once an official is playoff-qualified, the selection process puts more emphasis solely on experience/grade rather than ability.

What are some changes you would like to see done to IMPROVE the Triangle Soccer Officials Association? __________________________________ -Hold a significant number of the clinics were the vast majority of your Officials are. Response: We are all in this together. Thus the reason we are meeting in Wilson and Chapel Hill this spring.

-for games that have to travel long distances to see the possibility of giving the referee the two games on the same place RESPONSE: Mark Dreibelbis, If you expect an official to work multiple games, give their optimal effort, be able physically and mentally to perform at a high level of productivity, working multiple games is an unreasonable expectation and diminishes the overall officiating product during the contest(s).

-Have observers come out to more of the actual regular season games and assess -More opportunity to receive assessment/specific feedback. Less politics in game assignments Response: I have an open policy that you can get assessed for $ NOT ONE PERSON HAS TAKEN THIS OPPORTUNITY. I OBSERVED 24 Games this fall. I cant be everywhere

Im not sure what exactly the Board does -We meet twice a year to prepare for the upcoming season -During the season we handle topics that come up about the Association -Per vote from our Summer Clinic, we handle Disciplinary Matters

Continue to refer to I have so many College Referees middles. Due to the fact that you are a college Referees does not make you better than many Refs which you have. Many Referees are happy with being a professional and excellent Referee RESPONSE: STRIVE TO BE THE BEST OFFICIAL YOU CAN BE. THE PLAYOFFS DESERVE THE BEST OFFICIALS! It is my job to find those officials who met the criteria on and off the field and put them on the game(s).

Especially with no more double headers, I would like to see less travel for all these single games RESPONSE: The average trip to a game this fall was 23.9 miles. The average trip to a game last spring was 24.3 miles.

DO YOU LIKE THE TIMELINESS OF ASSIGNMENTS? Yes 96 No 4

DO YOU LIKE HAVING OBSERVERS AT YOUR SCRIMMAGES? YES-97 NO-3

erControl.php?mode=getFile&elementID=8397&ty pe=5&atomID= erControl.php?mode=getFile&elementID=8397&ty pe=5&atomID=10736 For the spring, each scrimmage will DOUBLE as a clinic. Go to 2 other clinics (Thursday and Feb 13 at East Chapel Hill, Feb 6 at Fike) and do 3 scrimmages you will received 6 clinics and 3 scrimmages Scrimmages will be self-assigned (see handout)

Many have asked about new warm-up shirts and polos. You can buy this and other Triangle Soccer Referee merchandise on our On-Line Store. The link is on the far left of our website
