Unit Analysis – writing the units when comparing each unit of rate
One technique for converting customary units of measure is by multiplying by a unit multiplier. The next slide will show you how this is done.
For example, to convert 412 feet into yards: First, write 412 feet over 1. Next, multiply by the unit multiplier, which in this case would be 1 yard . 3 feet 412 feet x 1 yard = 1 3 feet 412 yards 3 feet will cancel leaving your answer with the correct label!
