Density

How do we calculate Density? Density – The measure of how much mass is contained in a given volume. Density = Mass Volume

Density of Water Water has a Density of 1.0 g/ml If an object SINKS in water, then it is more dense than water. If an object FLOATS in water, then it is less dense than water.

Sink or Float? Decide if the objects will SINK OR FLOAT given their density.

Mystery Cube Density can be used to identify a substance. A mystery cube has a mass of 58 grams and a volume of 8 cubic cm. What is the density?

Mystery Cube The density of the cube is 7.25 g/cm. Use the chart below to identify the substance. Metal Density Bronze 8.75 g/cm Tin 7.25 g/cm Vanadium 6.0 g/cm Palladium 12.0 g/cm Brass 8.5 g/cm
