Athletic Department Parent Informational Meeting Crystal Lake South Gators

Mission Statement The Crystal Lake South Athletic Department strives for student-athletes to have a positive high school experience while being disciplined, hard working, respectful, resilient, and self-motivated so that they can be successful in the classroom, on the playing field, and in the community.

2017-2018 Review -2017-2018: Enrollment 1460, 784 participants in athletics. (120 two sports, 22 three sports) -16 community service projects. -Programs raised over $80,000 in fundraisers -Collectively, the graduating class of 2018 had 7 conference, 10 regional, 2 sectional and 1 state championship.

2017-2018 Review Every Fall, Winter, and Spring sport received the team IHSA Academic Achievement Award -3.0 Cumulative team GPA. Varsity Athletes GPA-3.472(2nd in D155)

Athletic Fees Spring 2019 Rosters due Monday, March 11 Reports  sent beginning Wednesday,  March 13 Restriction of Activities to begin Wednesday, March 20 If paying with check, this needs to go through Paty in the Athletics Office. Managers do not pay fee.

Pixellot and Gametime Radio Pixellot: Crystal Lake South Channel All home events for all levels will be broadcasted live. This will be a FREE service for our parents, community members, and alumni. Gametime Radio: Customized radio for all events tailored to CLS

Eligibility Students need to be passing 5 classes, PE included, to be eligible each week and for the following semester.(IHSA ByLaw) Weekly Eligibility Reports are ran every Thursday Coaches communicate with students that have grades of C- or lower on the list Thursday. If there is a discrepancy, the student needs to contact the teacher. The teacher then communicates to the Athletic Office by 3:00pm Friday the grade has changed to a passing grade.. Semester Eligibility Students need to pass five classes, (PE, Band/Choir included) at the semester to be eligible for the following semester. EX: Student passes 4 classes for first semester, they would be ineligible to compete in sports for 2nd semester EX: Student passes only 4 classes for second semester 2019, they would be ineligible for the Fall of 2019 to participate in athletics.

Code of Conduct 4 Steps 1st-20% of season; 10% if honestly admits to violation If self report and clear for one year, 1st offense is taken off cumulative record. 2nd-50% of the season 3rd –One calendar year from infraction 4th-No longer can participate in athletics. Academic Integrity is part of the code of conduct. Hazing, fighting, social media and bullying are also included in code situations.

Senior Awards Banquet Recognizing the accomplishments of our Senior-Student Athletes Open to all senior athletes who finished the season in good standing. Date will be June 4th. All athletes that attend are paid for and each athlete will get receive an award.

SALT Student Athlete Leadership Training This is open to all CLS Athletes All students that attend will be added to a google classroom to get leadership articles/videos/activities throughout the year. What is the goal of SALT?

Communication with Coaches We encourage you to follow the guidelines listed with communication with coaches: 24 hour rule 1 – Have your son or daughter talk to the coach first 2 - Contact the level coach to set up a meeting with head coach, level coach, son or daughter and yourself 3 – Meeting with Athletic Director, head coach, level coach, son or daughter and yourself

Sport Parent (Click on link above for short video) The Athlete And The Overall Sport Environment Failure and taking risks is ok in athletics. Control the controllables: Effort and Attitude Not every athlete can be a super-star on the team….But every athlete can be a super-star at their role.

Sport Parent “EMAIL” Communication!!!!!???!! Please use email for informational purposes Some things to consider All information and concerns will be relayed to your son or daughter. If you have an issue, we will also want to include them in on the issue….after all, it is about the athlete. Behavior in the Stands at games. Referees Suggestions….remove yourself for awhile, sit up away from the action, come talk to me or video tape. IHSA expectations of player removal are the same with if a parent is removed from a game by an official. Suspension from next game.
