Institute Governance and Management

Overview of The College Kombolcha Polytechnic College is established in 2001 With One Campus. But now, it has Three Campuses & Provides formal and Non –formal training. Besides The TVET Training Program The College is Providing a BSC degree Program Training For TVET Trainers in 4 Different Departments. The College is Certified in ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management.

Currently The College is providing training on Industrial Sector, Economic Infrastructure, Construction, Hotel & Hospitality and Agricultural Sectors. Among the Economic Infrastructure sectors Automotive technology is the one which is still highly demanded by the industries, MSEs’ and also by private and government owned garages.

Automotive Technology Department by now totally has 15 teachers in different level of qualification, of which 3 are master’s degree, 6 Bachelor’s degrees and the rest are level 5 Certified. For the most recently completed academic year, the total number of students enrolled in the department is 628, of which 544 students are graduated.

Kombolcha Polytechnic College provides formal training from level 1 to 5 in Automotive technology, and also provide non formal (short term) training. Kombolcha PC now is the best automotive talents training center. The table below shows the consolidated basic information of the college;

KEY DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGES: Lack of budget for construction of workshops, smart class rooms and digital library buildings. Lack of skilled manpower in operating and using new technologies (e.g. electronic controlled diesel and gasoline vehicles, testing machines and equipment ) Shortage of modern machineries, equipment and tools for Center of Excellence.

Institute Governance and Management Ownership ----- Government Board, advisory bodies As per “Amhara National Regional state ” proclamation 98/2012 part three No. 8, the board member of Kombolcha polytechnic college comprises Mayor of Kombolcha city administration, Technical, Vocational and Enterprises development office head, Community participation office head, Investment and Municipality service head, Kallu woreda administrator, Kallu woreda Technical, Vocational and Enterprises development office head, Kombolcha steel product Industry manager, president of Chamber of commerce and the college dean. All the colleges’plans have to be approved and endorsed by the board

Existing Situation Of Automotive Technology Department It has More Than 529 Trainees Both In Regular & Extension Training Program There are 2 batches & 3 Sections in Automotive Technology Department In Degree Program. There is Vehicle Maintenance Garage; also the Garage Serves a Cooperative training Center for the Trainees.

Vision Kombolcha Polytechnic College Automotive Technology Center of Excellence becomes the cradle of Automotive technicians in Ethiopia and East Africa. Mission To produce high-level and high-quality Automotive mechanics/Technicians.

Overall objective To turn Kombolcha polytechnic college into the largest training base for training Automotive technology talents in East Africa, and produce skilled technicians to the East Africa, and become the benchmark of TVET institutions in Ethiopia.
