What is a credit? Each Semester-long class is worth one credit Each 45-day class is worth ½ credit (i.e. Econ/Gov) It takes 24 credits to graduate All credits calculate into GPA and Class Rank

10 Point Grading Scale The uniform grading policy applies to all SC schools starting in the 2017-2018 school year. A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 F = 0-59

Level of Classes in High School College Preparatory (CP) Honors (HN) Honors classes may receive awarded additional .5 value points toward GPA Advanced Placement (AP) AP classes may receive awarded additional 1.0 value points toward GPA Early College (EC/Dual Credit classes may receive awarded additional 1.0 value points toward GPA)

Grade Point Average (GPA) GPA: Grade points are assigned for each numerical grade (example 85% = 3.0) How is GPA calculated: Each number grade received in a class is associated with a point value. Each point value is averaged together to create a GPA. Class Rank: Class rank is calculated at the end of the academic school year.

Transcript What is your high school transcript? It shows your high school grades, classes, GPA, and class rank. It will most likely be the first piece of information a college admissions officer will review. This complete record of your coursework, grades and credits provides concrete evidence of whether you're prepared to attend a particular college or not. SC UGP GPA Weighted Regular GPA Class Rank

What is the B27 Club? To qualify for the B27 Club, students must be taking at least two Carnegie Unit classes and must have an 85 or higher for the first 27 weeks of the school year. *B27 Club members will be able to attend all home athletic events for FREE! Student ID will be stamped at the beginning of the school year.*

Attendance Student Attendance laws require that students must be present a certain number of days per course to receive credit, provided the student receives a passing grade in the course: More than 10 unexcused absences may result in loss of credit for course. No more than 5 unexcused absences a semester!

How does attendance and grades affect my GPA?

E.L.I.T.E. Intervention “E” Block All students will have the opportunity to receive intervention for academics (Monday-Friday) and behavior (Friday) during our rotating intervention block. E Block will meet after second block each day prior to lunch. Students who are proficient in their academics and behavior will enjoy an extended lunch. “E” Block Rotation: Monday- 1st Block Tuesday- 2nd Block Wednesday- No “E” Block Thursday- 3rd Block Friday- 4th Block Your current teachers make recommendations (English, Math, Social Studies, Science) based on your grades, test scores, and commitment toward achievement. Students select 4 Elective courses and 4 alternates. *** No changes to course requests after May 31, 2015.

8th Graders can earn a High School credit in Lexington Two for…. Algebra I Honors English I Honors Computer Literacy & Digital Keyboarding (PRMS ONLY) *Recommend a B or higher

Middle vs High Taking a High School credit class during Middle School: Retaking a course - Middle School course(s) will be removed from your transcript and does not affect your GPA. Who should retake the course? Any student who makes a C or D in their High School course during Middle School should retake the course.

Program REQUIRES a 3 year commitment from student and parent/guardian, including summers. Students must meet requirements for admissions to Midlands Technical College (passing scores on the SAT ACCUPLACER reading, and math assessments and WSAMP Writing Exam). Courses and books are free to the student. Saving approximately $30K.
