Practice /Rituals Five Pillars of Faith Shahada- public declaration of faith Salat- prayer 5 times a day facing Mecca Zakat- almsgiving 2.5% of wealth to charity Siyam- Fasting during the month of Ramadan from sun up to sun set Hajj-a mandatory pilgrimage to the holy city of Makah(Mecca) once in a lifetime

Key Beliefs: Hallul - allowed acts , haram forbidden acts Follow the Qur’an and Gods guidance Ramadan- holy month, fast from sunup to sun set

Sects: Sunni ~ regard themselves as the orthodox and traditionalist branch of Islam. Shiite (Shia) The smaller sect numbering 120-170 million across the world
