SHOEBOX APPEAL: GIFTS FOR POOR AND DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN.

Boxes go to: Romania Croatia Moldova Albania Ukraine Bulgaria Kosovo

The strengths of the Rotary Shoebox Scheme: 1.It operates all year round. 2.The boxes are distributed to known contacts 3.We can guarantee that every Shoebox goes to a deserving child or family. Boxes go to: Romania Croatia Moldova Albania Ukraine Bulgaria Kosovo

Many people are still living in extreme poverty - often without electricity or running water.

Orphanages Childrens Homes Hospitals Families.

All age groups, including teenagers, have welcomed the boxes.

Disadvantaged children may never have received a gift before.

Reporter Helen Bell saw first hand the impact these gifts had on the people of Romania after spending four days there two years ago on the trail of the boxes. "I was touched by their disbelief at receiving such a gift. The appeal truly makes a difference to these children; the delight on their faces was obvious."

Items we take for granted in our daily lives can make a huge difference to the poor families there.

Liviu Statache, from Rotary Shoebox Romania, said: It's so important that they at least know someone is thinking of them. It's a drop of happiness."

What can we do? Take home a shoe-box. Fill it with goodies. Label it. Return it to school. A message from yourself?

TOYS (indicate age and gender). Toys are always needed especially at Christmas, Easter and for birthdays. SUGGESTIONS: Matchbox type cars, fluffy toy animals, small bouncy balls, dolls, colouring books, crayons, felt tip pens, pencils, Lego, jigsaws, etc. WHAT TO PUT IN THE BOXES

TEENAGER (indicate age and gender). SUGGESTIONS: For boys and girls up to the age of 18. Make- up, toiletries, sportswear, scarf, gloves, hat, writing materials, deodorants, comb, mirror, football memorabilia, etc.

Boxes are collected by the Rotary Club, delivered to a central warehouse then delivered to Eastern Europe.

Once delivered, distribution is overseen by local Rotary Clubs and groups such as the International Aid Trust, so we know that your gifts go to those most in need.

Will you help? ROTARY SHOE-BOX APPEAL
