Source: National Register Bulletin 15: How To Apply The National Register Criteria for Evaluation

Age and Resource Category Eligible Resource Category: “A property must be classified as a district, site, building, structure or object” The properties qualify as a “Building” Eligible Age: “Ordinarily…properties that have achieved significance within the past 50 years shall not be considered eligible for the National Register.” Source: National Register Bulletin 15: How To Apply The National Register Criteria for Evaluation

Age Criteria The property at 2524 W Bridge was built in 1910 and meets the 50 year age criteria.

Eligibility: Criterion A or B A. That are associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history; or B. That are associated with the lives of significant persons in or past (NPS Bulletin 15). A – While the building at 2524 W Bridge is associated with the residential development of the Nettleton’s Neighborhood during the early 1900s, it lacks sufficient integrity to be listed under Criterion A B – The building is not associated with a significant person in Spokane’s history, thus not eligible under B

Eligibility: Criterion C A property important for illustrating a particular architectural style or construction technique must retain most of the physical features that constitute that style or technique. A property that has lost some historic materials or details can be eligible if it retains the majority of the features that illustrate its style in terms of the massing, spatial relationships, proportion, pattern of windows and doors, texture of materials, and ornamentation. The property is not eligible, however, if it retains some basic features conveying massing but has lost the majority of the features that once characterized its style (NPS Bulletin 15). The building at 2524 W Bridge is a 504 square foot house with a common vernacular construction type. The building has lost its original cladding and plan. It is unclear if the windows and doors have been removed due to the plywood boarding. This loss of integrity of original features leaves the building ineligible for listing on the National Register under Criterion C for its architecture which is unremarkable.

Integrity Location Design Setting Materials (some) Workmanship Feeling Association

Bulletin 15 Retains – clipped gable and rafter tails The evaluation of integrity is sometimes a subjective judgment, but it must always be grounded in an understanding of a property's physical features and how they relate to its significance.
