Introduction to Blackboard This video will provide an introduction to the Blackboard login page, MyPMI tab, and Courses tab.

Blackboard Login Page 1 To access Blackboard, go to online.pmi.edu. The login page doesn’t just give you access to our online courses, it also provides information and access to other tools that you and your students may need. Login – Students and instructors enter login credentials here to access Blackboard. If you forget your password, click the Forgot Your Password link just above the Login button to reset it. Student Login Directions can be found just below the login box. Online Help Desk – Click the link to fill out a ticket for help. Students and instructors can contact the helpdesk via email or phone. MyPMI Mail – Students can access their email accounts through this link. Informational links for using email and a password reset link can also be found here. MyPMI Portal – Students and instructors can access Portal via this link. Information regarding portal and a password reset link are also located here. Online Education Information – PMI’s Privacy Policy can be found here, along with the System Check and information about online degrees and readiness. Online Student Center and Facebook – The Online Student Center has lots of information for both students and instructors, including program calendars and a directory of names and phone numbers. Click the Facebook links for the PMI and PMI Online FB pages. 2 5 3 6 4

MyPMI Tab 2 1 4 3 The MyPMI tab is the first page you’ll see once you log in to Blackboard. Tools – The Tools area contains several links which can also be found within the courses. One you should check out right away is Personal Information. Click this link and then click Change Password. Type in a new password twice, and then click Submit. The Calendar here is your personal calendar. Items that you put on this calendar cannot be viewed by anyone else. You will be able to access the calendar from within your courses. My Announcements – Announcements posted in your courses and institutional announcements (such as Blackboard downtime notices) can be found in this area. My Courses – All of the courses in which you are enrolled can be found here. Courses in which you are the instructor appear at the top, and courses in which you are a student (if any) appear at the bottom. To enter a course, click on the name of it in the My Courses box. Global Navigation Menu and My Blackboard – Click the arrow beside your name at the top right corner of the screen to open the Global Navigation Menu. The links on the right (with gray background) allow you to easily navigate to your courses and change settings. Click the icons on the left to access My Blackboard features, such as recent discussion posts and (for students only) grades.

Courses Tab Gear icon The Courses tab is where you can find the list of all courses you are enrolled in. It provides more detail than the list on the MyPMI tab. After you’ve been teaching for a while, your list may get so long it becomes difficult to find the course you want. To hide courses in the list, click the small gear-shaped icon in the top right corner of the Course List box (it’s also on the MyPMI Tab, at the top of the My Courses box). On the next page, click on the boxes in the Course name row to UNcheck them, and then click Submit. This will hide the courses from your MyPMI and Courses tabs. If you need to access a course you’ve hidden, just come back to this page and click on the box, then click Submit.

This video presented the Blackboard login page, MyPMI tab, and Courses tab. As an instructor, you’ll see the login page and MyPMI tab often. Familiarize yourself with each and be aware of what can be found there. The login page has a lot of useful resources for students, and knowing what they are will enable you to direct them to the appropriate places for help, as well as make it possible for you to quickly get help when you need it.
