Ambient Device Joel Moore Jay Clark Rob Miller Aaron Chatha Sophie Tyler

Brainstorm Ways to show data using an ambient device… Visual Sound Smell Touch Calorie Calculator Plane tracker Smell cube Memory helper Attentive keeper Mini projector Money tracker Ambient Device

Research The first bits of research we did for the ambient device was too look at phone apps which give you data in different ways… Weather forecaster Map Digital clock and stop watch Exercise tracker Clock that calls out time Plane tracker Organizer Reading books/newspapers/magazines

Research The ambient device above we found when looking for devices which gives information other then visually. The device is called Olly the web connected smelly robot which in a form of a cube plugs into your computer or laptop and releases a smell into the air when you receive a new message on Facebook or s. The ambient device below we found when looking for devices which gives information other then visually. The umbrella has an electronic signal through the handle which helps detect if its going to rain and tells the user by flashing a light on the handle with the flashes slower if its just a light rain and faster if its a heavy downpour.

Smell Navigate Watch From the brainstorm one of the ideas that we came up with was as GPS smell watch. This you would wear as you travelled and it would release a familiar smell of a particular restaurant where you are close to it with the smell getting stronger as you got closer. This watch we decided could then be split into 8 sections which would allow different smells of places to be chosen. For example… 1.Cinema 2.Fish and Chips 3.Pizza/Italian 4.Perfume/Makeup shop 5.Chocolate shop 6.Chinese 7.Market 8.Petrol station This type of device may also be good for blind people releasing a certain smell to tell them where they are.

Money Tracker Full Empty Barclays Credit Card Mr. A Example From the brainstorm one of the ideas that we came up with was a money tracker to help people finance better and know exactly what there spending. We did this by taking an ordinary credit card and putting a bar on the side which showed how much money you have left to spend in the bank. The bar would go down every time you used the card to pay for something.

Mini Projector oo From the brainstorm one of the ideas that we came up with was a mini projector which would be in a small cube and can be plugged into a computer or laptop easily and would project onto a flat surface. This could be a useful device for business people who need to make presentations carry around and for educational aspects as well.

Final Idea Above is a re final idea for the Ambient Device in the form of a credit card which has a bar on the bottom showing how much you have left to spend on the card.
