“Solve Word Problems in Exponential Functions using Microsoft Excel” Summary: In this activity, students will use Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to solve word problems in exponential functions. By encoding the appropriate equations, students will be able to compute the matured value of the investment, the depreciated value of the asset and the life span of a radioactive substance. They will interpret the data using the table and the graph derived from the Excel spread sheets. Evaluation: 1. Remember that in linear functions, there is equal first difference in the function values of the dependent variable. Using this information, describe the function values of the dependent variable (range) of the exponential functions. 2. Describe the domain and the range of the exponential function.
