Aeronautics - The science or practice of travel through the air. If it flies, It's part of aeronautics!

Kites in Japan Kites are the oldest known heavier-than-air crafts, designed to gain lift from the wind while being flown from the end of a flying line, or tether. It is thought that kites were first introduced to Japan by Buddhist monks who came from China in the Nara period (710-794 B.C.). They were originally used to avert evil spirits and to insure rich harvests. “BUKA” is one of the fighting kites, Shizuoka, Japan. “Chochin” is Japanese lantern and this kite resembles chochin.
