The CCPS Strategic Plan 2018-23 An Overview of the Second Pillar – Engage November 13, 2018

CCPS Mission Statement The Mission of Charles City Public Schools is to develop self-sustaining, responsible and educated adults who can contribute and work to improve their community and the world. CCPS Mission Statement

Charles City Public Schools will be an exemplary model of rural education where collaboration, critical thinking, communication and creativity are practiced to develop adults who contribute positively to the global society. CCPS Vision Statement

Integrity –being honest, transparent and operating with virtue and ethics Heritage -- honoring the cultural traditions and history of the past, acknowledging and observing cultural traditions Learning – acquiring knowledge, skills and insight through formal and informal opportunities of teaching, research and enlightenment Communication – the effective exchange of ideas, information feelings and news between stakeholders Respect – Mutual space where courtesy is shown, honor is given, obedience is practiced and objectivity exercised with an open mind. Three Pillars of the Mission of CCPS Educate – A process of learning and demonstrating that which is learned. Equipping all learners to become successful participants in the school division, local and global community. Engage– The process by which the school division communicates and interacts with its stakeholders in order to achieve division goals and promote accountability. Connecting, collaborating and cooperating in the educational process. Empower Three Pillars of the Mission of CCPS

Engage: The Second Pillar Goal 2: To grow stakeholder interaction in the educational process through focused collaboration and effective communication. Engage: The Second Pillar

Objectives for Goal 2 Objective 1: Promote positive interactions between and among students, staff and the community Objective 2: Assist stakeholders in becoming more informed about and involved in school division activities, actions and plans.

Strategies/Action Items For Objective 1 Host a variety of school-based events to share successes of students and staff with all community stakeholders Use current social media platforms (Facebook/Instagram) to strategically disseminate important information related to the school division and to encourage feedback Create a School-Community Networking Team to support the strategic plan to share information to the community Create community involvement groups of business, church and community organizations as a resource for schools, especially in times of unmet needs Invite and encourage community members to volunteer in schools based on the identified needs of each building and the abilities of each volunteer Strategies/Action Items For Objective 1

Strategies/Action Items for Objective 2 Develop building –level communication initiatives at CCES and CCHS Appoint Parent Liaison(s) to share information from School Board and PTSA/PTO Meeting with community Reconfigure school division website to include a “Community” link with all activities, and plans available (Currently “Students and Families” section) Develop and implement a stakeholder communication plan with informal and formal methods of communication with community Strategies/Action Items for Objective 2

Measuring Progress Key Performance Indicators: Number of participating community partners and volunteers at school and division events Percentage of families expressing satisfaction with events, programs and resources provided by the school division Number of stakeholder responses posted on division social media accounts Percentage of staff, community, parents and students reporting satisfaction with school division communication Measuring Progress
