Presentation transcript:

Restaurant Owner A restaurant owner is sometimes also the restaurant manager. The actual job description depends on the other workers employed. Some owners have various managers who supervise specific departments and then report to them. Others take care of every one of the aspects of the restaurant. Basically, the owner is the one who keeps the business running on a daily basis.

Education/Training – Technically, there isnt specific education requirements to become a restaurant owner. Basically, you just need enough property and money to buy or open a restaurant. – Unlike being a chef, there is no required training to become a restaurant owner. However, it is a social job with social experience needed.

Skills Needed – To be a restaurant owner, you need to be socially experienced. There will be many times when you have to go out of your way to please someone. Or you can lose a customer.

Salary/Licenses – Restaurant Owners make an average salary of $30,981-$208,096 per year. – There are no licenses required for being a restaurant owner. Simply, you need to own a restaurant.

Other Jobs – One related job is a head chef. This requires more education considering you need to spend some time in Culinary School. This pays up to $60,000. – Another related job is a restaurant manager. This requires about the same level of education and social skills as being the owner. This pays about $50,000 – A restaurant janitor is a related job that requires less education than being a restaurant owner. This job pays about $17,000 a year.

Job Outlook – Food industries are expected to grow at a constant pace for the next decade. Because businesses and schools will sign contracts to make sure they have plenty of food for their students. So it is around schools where the demand will be the highest.

Preparation In high school and college, there arent really any required courses, but it would be helpful to take business and financial classes to be successful.
