Relies on providing raw materials, such as oil, minerals, or agricultural products So many countries use Africa for resources leading to limited economic growth After 1960s, most African countries got poorer because of political instability Infrastructure cannot support Africans growing their economy Most Africans don’t have access to technology Raw materials like oil, minerals, or agricultural products. So many countries using Africa for resources has made limited economic growth After 1960s, most African countries got poorer, since political instability caused poverty Roads, airports, railroads and ports cannot support Africans growing their economy High technology has fueled the economy in North America, Europe and Asia

How do they build industries? Commodity--product to be sold “One Commodity” country: relies on one commodity for its earnings Value of commodities are based on the world economy & is unstable Diversify--create variety Many Africans feel they need to diversify to grow Commodity is usually agriculture or mining products Value of commodities are based on the world economy and is unstable Also need to stabilize with diversity

What diseases affect Africa?
