ON Now, you! The dog is ON the couch. The pencil is ON the book. TEACHER: Ask students to observe the picture. Elicit vocabulary (dog, couch). Ask “Where’s the dog?” Show the answer on the slide “The dog is on the couch.”, emphasizing the preposition ON. Ask them to read the sentence after Now, you! and use their own material to show what’s written in the sentence. Check the students’ work by asking a student to come to the front and show what he/she did. The pencil is ON the book.

IN Now, you! The balls are IN the box. TEACHER: See slide #2. Call students’ attention to the use of are in the plural form. The eraser is IN the pencil case.
