Luxembourg

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a member of the European Union located between Germany, France and Belgium. It is a landlocked state. Its capital is Luxembourg, it is home to numerous European institutions and agencies as well as being a major financial hub. It is the only grand duchy left in the world.

Vianden Castle Vianden Castle is the main monument of the city of Vianden, in the north of Luxembourg and one of the largest fortified castles west of the Rhine.

Language Luxembourg is a national language, it is also an official language together with French and German. Luxembourg is used in primary school, while German and French are used in secondary school. Luxembourg is the language also spoken by the Parliament. Religion Most of the Luxembourg population is Christian, but a small part is Muslim or of other religions.

Traditional cuisine One of the typical dishes of the country is pork accompanied by broad beans. In fact, pork is the most widely used type of meat. Another typical dish of Luxembourg cuisine is fried crepes with oil and served with finely chopped tomatoes with parsley and onions another typical dish are spicy sausages.

The Luxembourg National Day The Luxembourg National Day is a festival that is celebrated on June 23rd each year and celebrates the birthday of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The date recalls, in fact, the birthday of the Grand Duchess Carlotta of Luxembourg, symbol of national unity, during the Second World War and still today one of the most important figures in the history of the Grand Duchy of the twentieth century. The festival takes place with a te deum, at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, in the presence of the Grand Duke and the grand-ducal family
