John R. Stuff, Ph.D. Manager, Analytical Services, GERSTEL, Inc Dr. Stuff’s is currently the Manager of the Analytical Services Group with GERSTEL, Inc. He develops automated methods for sample preparation and introduction for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. He develops and teaches customer training classes, conducts new product testing, and supports pre- and post-sales opportunities. He provides expert analytical support to a wide customer base including, food, flavor, fragrance, forensic, environmental, and chemical industries.   Dr. Stuff was Director of Laboratory Operations for EAI Corporation’s contracts at the Edgewood Research, Development and Engineering Center, APG, MD. His responsibilities included projecting costs, budgeting expenses, and developing and implementing strategies for the determination of chemical agents and their by-products in environmental samples and in chemical agent neutralization solutions. As a Research Chemist with W.R. Grace, he developed methods for supercritical fluid and gas chromatography in support of a variety of product lines and research projects. As a captain in the United States Air Force, Dr. Stuff conducted battery research using ionic liquids as electrolytes. Also, he taught general chemistry lecture and lab, and instrumental analysis lab at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He received a bachelors degree in Chemistry from U. of Miami, FL, and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. 1
