Purpose and Mission Our mission is to promote interest and participation in the game of lacrosse by providing the youth of our community with quality instruction emphasizing sportsmanship, enjoyment and reaching the highest level of lacrosse skill development for individual players, while being responsible and respectful members of their community and team.

About Us The Wauwatosa Lacrosse Club (WLC) is an all volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the game of lacrosse in Wauwatosa.  The WLC organizes and implements parent meetings, LAX clinics, fundraising, collection of player fees and any other events needed to support Wauwatosa lacrosse.  Meetings are open to all LAX parents, participation and assistance with upcoming tasks and events is appreciated.

What is Lacrosse? Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. The men's games, field lacrosse (outdoor) and box lacrosse (indoor), are contact sports and all players wear protective gear: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. The women's game does not allow body contact but does allow stick to stick contact. The only protective gear required for women players is eyegear, while goalies wear helmets and protective pads. Intercrosse is a mixed-gender non- contact sport that uses an all-plastic stick and a softer ball.

Brief History of the Game 1636 - The lacrosse timeline begins with the Jesuit Missionary Jean de Brebeuf is the first to document the game of lacrosse. The game has existed in some form quite a long time before this date in Native American communities. 1794 - A match between the Seneca and Mohawks results in the creating of basic rules. 1834 - Caughnawaga Indians demonstrate the sport in Montreal. The game is reported by the newspaper and, for the first time, white men are interested in the sport. 1867 - Dr. William George Beers, the father of modern lacrosse, finalizes the first set of playing rules for the Montreal Club. 1876 - Queen Victoria watched and "endorses" a lacrosse game in Windsor, England. New York University is the first college in the United States to establish a lacrosse team. 1881 - The first intercollegiate tournament is held at Westchester Polo Grounds in New York. 1890 - In the lacrosse timeline, the first organized women's lacrosse game is played at St. Leonard's School in St. Andrew's, Scotland 2010 – Blazers Lacrosse Club is established in the Greater Milwaukee Area coached by Ken Stark a member of the Wisconsin Lacrosse Hall of Fame inaugural class. 2012/2013 – Wauwatosa’s first varsity high school team is formed 2017 – Wauwatosa high school team wins 2nd consecutive conference championship and advances to state semi-final game. As a club the combined record of all team team 3rd grade thru high school was 43-14-3 (w-l-t) no team had more than 5 loses 2018 – Wauwatosa adds Girls Lacrosse to both youth and high school

Boys Lacrosse Additional Information Played by two teams with 10 players on the field at a time. 1 Goalkeeper 3 Defensemen 3 Midfielders (Midi’s) 3 Attackmen Average Team size 18 – 30 players on roster 6’x6’ goal inside a 9’ radius crease circle Goals may be scored by shooting, rolling, kicking or redirected with your stick or foot Ball can be advanced by running, passing, kicking, or rolling ball You may not touch the ball with your hands intentionally, unless you are a goalie punching at the ball in flight A maximum of 4 long poles may be on the field at one time.
